Black Opal are a rock band based in Belfast whose sound fuses melodic and riff-laden guitar, matched with poignant, biting lyrics, backed by a pulsating rhythm section of guitar, bass & drums.

Formed in 2022, they began working on and developing a series of songs that would go on to form the basis of their debut album, Divine Accusations, which offers an honest take on the group’s major influences while exploring themes of love, loss and aspects of the human condition. Their music pays homage to their love of riff-heavy melodic rock. With more than a nod to the classic sounds of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, the rock & alternative music scenes of their youth, the heavy sound of 90’s grunge & indie Britpop underlined by punks musical honesty and in your face, do it yourself appeal. With an unyielding self-belief in their strong musical chemistry, the band are determined to make their mark.
